Notes from the hedgerow
Kitchen Garden
How are we in November already!? Where has this year gone?
It feels just like yesterday when I was walking out in the cold, fresh spring air, seeing buds on trees and new plants springing to life in the hedgerows. I was so eager for the lush green countryside to be in the full swing of summer.
Autumn Lace
October is the month where we become fully submerged in autumn.
The leaves have changed colour and begun to fall – some trees are already bare. The weather is unpredictable; within the same month we can experience bad storms and, in contrast, glorious sunny dry days.
Cottage Vine
As much as I love summer, there’s just something so captivating about the transition into autumn.
I think September is that month where you never quite know what the weather might do - in this pleasant land we call Great Britain. Some years it surprises us with a cool breeze, and others bring that dreamy 'Indian summer' - like the ones you read about in romantic novels.
Summer Harvest
I think we can all agree that August signifies that summer is nearing its end.
For country folk, it conjures up idyllic scenes of farmers hard at work in the fields - harvesting crops, turning straw, and baling up grass, all in preparation for the winter that lies ahead.
The story behind the Rose
Notes from the Hedgerow is a place where I explain the meaning behind my designs. A space where I share my creative journey, reflections on faith, and the beauty I find in nature.
